Does Local
698 offer educational assistance?
Yes.
In 2005, the newly elected Executive Board renamed the traditional
Local 698 Educational Assistance Awards in honor of the late Richard
E. Hohn, long-time DASNY employee, dedicated Local 698 President and
labor activist. Up to 12 Hohn Educational Assistance Awards of $500
each will be granted each semester. Award applications are evaluated
by the seven-member Educational Assistance Awards (EAA) Committee,
according to criteria established in the application instructions.
Furthermore, CSEA, AFSCME and AFL-CIO scholarships are available to
members of Local 698. As we're notified of scholarship opportunities,
they'll be posted to our News
page. Visit our Career
Links page for education links, including those for
scholarship details and application form downloads. Check

Can I have the political
action portion of my CSEA dues refunded?
Yes.
The process for requesting a refund of the portion of your CSEA
membership dues used for political action activities is administered
by CSEA Headquarters. Per our inquiry,
members are allowed a refund of their dues for the specific
portion used for "political action" activities.
A detailed procedure for
requesting "political action activity refunds" is published
annually in the February or March
edition of The Work Force - a monthly CSEA publication
mailed to all members. For additional information or clarification,
feel free to call CSEA Headquarters' Political Action
Department at 518-257-1000.
